Seeking aspiring entrepreneurs to work on startup businesses with the support of Running Start, The Venture Forum, and Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce

Worcester, Massachusetts—With the huge momentum experienced by StartUp Worcester participants in its first year of operation, applicants for the second cohort will want to get their applications in before the March 14 deadline.

The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Higher Education – Business Partnership is excited by the applications received to date in the competitive race to win a coveted spot in this incubator program that supports entrepreneurs who want to take an idea to market.

Last year, approximately 24 applicants vied for the 12 spots. Among those selected were three game developers, an agroponics venture whose goal is to more efficiently grow food, and a fashion blog that assists women with honing their professional image by recommending attire and providing fashion-forward advice.

While they are at varying stages of development, those participating have experienced great progress which they attribute in part to their involvement in StartUp Worcester.

StartUp Worcester supports local, entrepreneurial college and university graduates to help launch their business concepts. StartUp Worcester will select 12 winners with original business plans to receive support to develop their ideas from concept to marketplace. The Chamber has partnered with Running Start, a co-working space located on Prescott Street in Worcester, and The Venture Forum, a non-profit organization providing valuable programming geared toward the specific needs of entrepreneurs.

StartUp Worcester 2016 is pleased to have the financial support of Chamber members and lead sponsors: Commerce Bank and Grove Street Commercial Properties along with supporting sponsor, DarrowEverett LLP.

The deadline to submit StartUp Worcester applications for the 2016 – 17 cohort is March 14, 2016. An announcement unveiling the businesses selected will take place in mid-May. Application forms can be completed online at www.worcesterchamber.org/startup-worcester-2016/
