Air Travel Survey

Worcester and the region’s economic success has been historically linked to important transportation infrastructure and our central location to all of New England. The Blackstone Canal, railroads, highway system, the commuter rail expansion, and the Worcester Regional Airport are all part of that story and are keys to future success.

The Worcester Regional Airport has seen solid growth since 2010 when Massport took ownership of the airport. Now, JetBlue, American Airlines, and Delta all fly out of Worcester. However, like all airports across the country, Worcester Regional Airport has been impacted by the COVID-19 health and economic crisis, with some flights temporarily suspended.

Nonetheless, since Massport acquired the facility in 2010, the positive economic impact of the Worcester Regional Airport has been significant. A study, conducted last year by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, found that, in the past ten years, the airport has been responsible for creating 587 jobs, disbursing $29,617,000 in payroll, and generating a total economic impact of $96,747,000.

In an effort to reestablish the momentum Worcester Regional Airport was experiencing prior to the pandemic, the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce is working with Massport to collect information about the region’s use of the airport. The information collected in this Air Service Survey will be utilized to assist Massport in efforts to recruit more flights, airlines, and additional routes out of Worcester Regional Airport. Our goal is to collect a minimum of 1,000 survey responses by October. This information is of great importance to decision makers in the airline industry.

The survey takes just 5 minutes, and all respondents will be entered into a raffle for four tickets to a WooSox home season game in 2021 in the Chamber’s box seats at Polar Park. To qualify for the drawing, respondents should be sure to provide optional contact information at the end of the survey. The survey can be accessed HERE.

Whatever assistance you can provide in distributing this survey to your employees, students, board, customers, friends, and family will be greatly appreciated and go a long way toward strengthening the region’s economic future. Thank you for your time and stay healthy.

Sincerely,
