  • The Worcester Youth Orchestra— the group is comprised of talented musician-students from Central Mass. and beyond

Included throughout the program will be greetings from local celebrities and other notables including Worcester’s sports teams. There will also be a grand fireworks finale.

“While we wish we were celebrating in person, we are thrilled at the line-up that the team has put together.  Local musicians and other members of our creative community have stepped up to take this celebration to even more people through various online platforms. Once again, we thank Fallon Health for their continued support as the presenting sponsor,” commented Timothy P. Murray, president and CEO of the Chamber.

“The Chamber has done a wonderful job of pulling together a re-imagined event that will celebrate our local community and is a fitting tribute to Independence Day. From the safety of their homes, families will still be able to enjoy the important holiday. And while different, the virtual event will capture the spirit of what the day has always been about,” added Richard Burke, president and CEO of Fallon Health.

The hour-long, virtual event will be aired on Wednesday, July 1 at 7 p.m. on the City of Worcester’s official Facebook page: WorcesterMassachusettsOfficial, at worcesterma.gov/video-on-demand, and on Spectrum 192, the city government channel in Worcester. The show will be re-broadcast on Saturday, July 4 at 7 pm on Spectrum News 1.

The reimagined celebration took shape in an effort to avoid large gatherings in the interest of public health and safety. Event partners Discover Central MA, the City of Worcester, Fallon Health, and the Chamber worked together to create a fun and interesting program in celebration of the nation’s independence.
