The Paid Sick Days law that was adopted by voters in November is SCHEDULED TO TAKE EFFECT ON JULY 1, 2015

The regulations regarding implementation are currently up for public comment. Without certified regulations, it will be difficult for many businesses to achieve compliance as the direction and framework are spelled out in the regulations.

The Chamber is are asking all members to contact their state senators and representatives to urge them to delay implementation of this law until January 1, 2016.

This delay will not subvert the intent of the voters – rather, it will give businesses ample time to comment on the proposed regulations and then plan their compliance.

It is extremely the important that we seek a delay in implementation. Please contact your legislators and ask them to support a delay.

You may write, call or email them but you need to do it soon! July 1 is just a short time away. By thoughtfully educating our legislators about the impact to businesses, we hope to secure the time needed to comply with this new law.

The Chamber will convene a panel of human resource and legal professionals in June to provide you with information on the implementation of this law. Watch for information on this complimentary seminar to be released soon.

While we are urging a delay we also recognize that our members need information information to comply.
